BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Hirsch Handmaker, M.D. (Chairman)
Dr. Handmaker is the Founder and President of Ionia Consulting, providing technical, marketing and strategic planning advice to entities interested in the health care sector. His career includes 25 years in clinical practice at Children’s Hospital of San Francisco and California Pacific Medical Center, and research in medical imaging. He has founded 3 companies in advanced medical imaging and informatics, and the pursuit of digital transformation of practices in oncology, orthopaedics, sports medicine and radiology.
A diplomat of the American Boards of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, he also served as Director of Medical Services for the Oakland Athletics Baseball Company, and currently is the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Subcommittee Chairman for the NCAA Fiesta, Insight and BCS Bowl Games In Phoenix, Arizona. He serves on the Scientific Advisory and Statewide Planning Committees for the Arizona Cancer Center of the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Handmaker has authored or coauthored over 70 publications and 2 textbooks dealing with diagnostic imaging and informatics. He has directed the expedited review process and subsequent FDA approval for two novel diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals after serving as Principal Investigator for the multicenter trials for these agents.
Dr. Handmaker earned his B.S. at The University of Arizona and his M.D. at the University of Southern California. His internship and residency were completed at Northwestern University Affiliated Hospitals, Chicago, Illinois. Following his tour of duty in Chu Lai, Viet Nam (Bronze Star Medal), he served as Assistant Director of Nuclear Medicine at Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco, followed by a Post-doctoral Fellowship as an NIH Trainee in Medical Physics at The Donner Laboratory of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley.
Marsha Lamb
Ms. Lamb has served as the Executive Director for the American Institute of Minimally Invasive surgery (AI*MIS), where she serves on its initial Board of Directors. She blends two areas of expertise integral to the success of CACTIS: knowledge of healthcare and a proficiency in education. With more than two decades of experience in instruction and technology, Marsha will help power the unique research and educational delivery systems of CACTIS to its partners and patients. To do so, she leverages the experiences of a distinguished career that has included work in both the public and private sectors, along with proven acumen in strategic planning, organizational change and knowledge management. Marsha has bridged the worlds of information technology and pedagogical practice with technological luminaries including positions at Cisco Systems and Oracle. She has lent her expertise to the arenas of venture capital, education and the not-for-profit world. Marsha has owned her own technology learning firm, and has provided consulting services to companies throughout the U.S. As a cancer survivor, Marsha is especially sensitive to and an effective advocate for the importance of advanced, high tech, high touch diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Her education credentials include a BS in Educational Psychology from State University of New York, an MS in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and post-Masters work in Instructional Technology with George Washington University. As passionate about learning as she is about instruction, Marsha’s many professional development endeavors include study with the Oxford Leadership Academy, Old Dominion University, Harvard University and more.
Richard M. Feldheim
Mr. Feldheim is a co-owner of Star Resort Group LLC (Phoenix, Arizona) and Managing Partner of Star Ventures. Rich has played a key role in the growth of the fractional ownership industry as a pioneer with the Northstar Club, Snowmass Club, the Christie Club and Front Four at Stowe Mountain Lodge. Over the past 30 years. He has been involved with numerous other real estate ventures including hotels, condo-hotels, timeshare and undeveloped land. Recently he has helped create Great American Ranch Company a newly formed entity created for the acquisition, subdivision and sale of large land parcels throughout the western United States. He acted as the post-petition CEO and President for Mortgages Ltd., once the largest private lender in Arizona, through the company’s emergence from Bankruptcy. He earned his BSBA, Masters of Accounting, and JD at the University of Arizona and his LLM (Taxation) at New York University.
